The Stool is a Little Loose

I'm normally not very immature, but coming across this, how can't you be?

Adobe is NOT Microsoft

Honestly, I love the show Cash Cab. When it comes to questions that are unbelievably obvious (or at least to me) and they get it wrong, however, I can not stand it.
I was watching it today, and the following dialogue is held:

Ben: "Okay, here's your question: What San Jose based software company is known for Acrobat, Flash, and Photoshop?"

Contestant: "Uh, there are Adobes in San Jose, and there's a computer company called that, right?"

Contestant's Wife: "Just go with Microsoft."

Contestant: "The answer is 'Microsoft.'"

Maybe the only reason I'm bugged is because I'm such a geek and I use these programs on a daily basis. But Microsoft? Really? And when you know the answer but your wife talks you out of it? Really?

---
Oh great. As I'm in the process of writing this post, Cash Cab is still on in the background, and there is a new contestant. Get this:

Ben: "What is the full name of the technology conference that is held annually in Las Vegas?"

Contestant: "...I know it's CES...so I'll go with...'Computer Electrician's Shindig.'"

What? That doesn't even make sense!

How to Get Free TV Shows on Your iPod

One of my favorite TV shows is Flight of the Conchords. However, it airs concurrently with another show I like, and I often have to choose between the two. Since I did not watch FOTC the last two weeks due to some serious drama on the other show, and I leave on a week and a half trip tomorrow morning, I thought it would be nice to be able to bring these two missed episodes with me. What did I do to get it onto my iPod for free?

  1. I went to megavideo and searched "Flight of the Conchords 207" (I wanted the 7th episode of the 2nd season)
  2. I installed DownloadHelper (on Firefox, of course)
  3. I went back to megavideo and, using DownloadHelper, downloaded the *.flv of the episode
  4. Once the *.flv finished downloading, I went to MediaConvert and uploaded it
  5. I clicked on the iPod preset (*.mp4), then "convert"
  6. After 20 minutes of uploading and 5 minutes of processing, the file was ready to be downloaded
  7. I imported it into iTunes
  8. I attached and synced my iPod
And that's all, folks! Simple as, well, let's just say its not that complicated.

PI DAY!!!

Today, my friends, is Pi day. Happy Pi Day!

And She Is Always There...

Oh, how much I love my dog.
It is inexplicable how much I love my dog.
She keeps me sane.
She keeps me going.
Her unwavering happiness every morning as she wags her tail sitting at the door of my room starts my day and rubs off on me; I know it will be a good day (I hope).

Oh, how much I love my dog.
I love my dog immensely, and that is a large understatement.
She reminds me of my values.
She reminds me of my priorities.
Her simplicity reminds me that life is not a spider-web, sticky and complex, but rather a leaf floating down a river. The principles are simple and universal, but which path the water takes us is not in our complete control.*

Or, simply said: She makes me happy and I love her.

*Note how I said "in our complete control," meaning we can still influence it, but not fully control it.
